LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT INSISTS ON PROPER DOCUMENTATION FOR HOUSING TRANSACTIONS

 

Lagos State Government has advised the public that henceforth, all applications relating to transfer of Home Ownership are to be accompanied with evidence of Home Ownership, Search Conduct Result and a valid means of identification in cases of loss of Home Ownership Document.


Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing,  Abdulhafis Toriola  who said this during a strategic Management meeting in his Alausa office, stated that an allottee who applies for Transfer of Ownership must accompany his/her application with letter of allocation, payment receipts and a valid means of identification to be submitted to his Office.

Toriola said the move was to ascertain the genuineness of claims of ownership by applicants for proper transfer which has become necessary in view of the increased incidents of false claims uncovered by the Ministry.

The Permanent Secretary warned that the Ministry would not process any application that does not include the aforementioned documents.

EFCC VOWS NOT TO RELENT IN FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA.



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it will not relent in the fight against corruption in the country. 


Its Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, made the promise while addressing representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.


Olukoyede who reiterated the Commission’ s determination to intensify the fight against economic and financial crimes, charged the students to be reform-minded and desist from anti-social tendencies.


The EFCC boss insisted that leaders at all levels of government should be accountable to the people, pointing out that every opportunity to serve Nigerians should be considered as a privilege with readiness to offer maximum benefits to the people.


He urged the youth to join hands with the EFCC and be foot soldiers of the Commission, and extend the message of the EFCC and support the good cause and direction of the EFCC to the thirty- six states of the federation.

U.S. PRESIDENT BIDEN DISMISSES CALLS TO STEP DOWN



               American President, Joe Biden says he is not going back on his re-election bid. 

                                          

The Eighty-one year old said this while addressing supporters who yelled “keep up the fight” during an Independence Day celebration at the White House event.

Three elected Democrats have publicly called on Biden to step aside since last debate, during which the president stumbled over his words and lost his train of thought on several occasions.


Coastguards in Mauritania have recovered Eighty-one bodies of migrants from a boat that capsized in the Atlantic Ocean.


Nine people including a five-year-old girl were rescued, but dozens more are still missing.

Survivors say the vessel, a traditional fishing boat set sail last week from the Senegalese-Gambian border area with One hundred and seventy people on board. 

The boat capsized off Mauritania's south-western coast.

Mauritania is a key transit point for migrants trying to reach Europe from West Africa.



NIGERIAN PRESIDENT TINUBU ROLLS OUT STRATEGY TO STRENGTHEN NATION'S ECONOMY

 President Bola Tinubu has underscored the need for innovative solutions to solve Nigeria's economic challenges.

The President also acknowledged the importance of public-private partnership in driving economic reforms for growth and development. 

He spoke at the inauguration of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council, PECC and launch of the Economic Stabilization Programme to ensure food security, improved power supply, enhanced social welfare and healthcare, increased energy production, and overall economic transformation.

At the inaugural meeting of the 31-member Council held at the Council Chambers in Abuja, President Tinubu, who chairs the Council, announced measures, which will run concurrently with the National Construction and Household Support Programme.

The programme is aimed at stabilizing the economy, enhance job creation, and foster economic security.

   LAGOS  ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE  CHAIRMAN  CHARGES LASIEC STAFF ON  DILIGENCE



Staff of  Lagos State independent Electoral commission have been charged to be diligent and remain non partisan in the discharge of their duties


Chairman Lagos state house of assembly Commitee on Judiciary ,Human Right, Public Petition and LASIEC,
 Hon Oladipo Ajomale gave the charge when he led the committee on a familiarization visit to the office of the Lagos state independent electoral commission in Yaba.

                                         

Noting that the committee is set to build closer lies with the state electoral body, Ajomale disclosed that ahead of the forthcoming local council election the committee has plans to visit electoral offices in the fifty-seven local government and local council development areas in the state.


In his remarks, Coordinator and director election operations, Lagos state independent electoral commission , Demola Gbadegeshin who described the visit as historic, commended the committee for its support in ensuring a conducive environment for electoral officers.

Noting that the commission has commenced in harness preparations for the forthcoming local council election, Gbadegeshin outlined some efforts of the State electoral body towards the success of the forthcoming local government election.

The LASIEC coordinator solicited the provision of three large warehouses in the three senatorial districts of the state to enhance the distribution of electoral materials.

In a vote of thanks, director civic and voter education Eniola  Adeshina, while thanking the committee, was optimistic that the visit will bring about a great difference in the operations of the commission.


Members of the committee on the visit included Hon. Ajani Owolabi , representing Mainland constituency  one and Chairman House Committee on Ministry ,Tertiary Institutions, Hon. Ponu Solomon representing  Badagry Constituency one  and house committee chairman  tourism arts and culture, and members of the secretariat.

 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BEGINS UNBUNDLING PROCESS OF ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION.

                                                           


The Federal Government has flagged off the unbundling process of eleven electricity distribution companies to pitch them up for efficiency.


Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, said this while hosting the Senate Committee on Power, led by the Chairman, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, in Abuja.


Adelabu stated that the privatisation of the firms would not be reversed, but stressed that the DisCos would be broken into more efficient structures along state lines to be able to deliver on their mandates.


He also revealed that over one hundred projects of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, have not been completed since 2001.


 LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH CNG BUSES FOR RESIDENTS.


The Lagos state Government says it is working with private operators under a PPP arrangement to launch over two thousand CNG buses for residents to enjoy a carbon free emission atmosphere.

 Commissioner for Transportation,  Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said this at the Lagos State Government Year 2024  Ministerial Press Briefing, a Greater Lagos Rising held at Alausa, Ikeja.

He said the state government   will continue to prioritize its intermodal transportation system to make life comfortable for Lagosians. by  putting in place bus reform initiatives, and  collaborate  with the private sector to build ferries.

The Commissioner also said the state  government would launch a twenty four hour toll free call centre to enhance the operations of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA.



 

LAGOS NSCDC   BOSS, RESTATES   COMMITMENT TO FIGHT AGAINST   UNLICENSED PRIVATE SECURITY OPERATORS 

In the bustling metropolis of Lagos, security remains a paramount concern for both individuals and businesses.

 The Nigeria Security and Civil  Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the vigilant leadership of Commandant Adedotun Keshinro, has been at the forefront of addressing security challenges within the state.

 The Commandant's commitment to eradicating the menace of unlicensed private security practitioners and quacks is a testament to the organization's dedication to maintaining law and order.

In an exclusive   interview,   the Lagos State Commandant stressed the  need to develop new operational strategies, which would further cement the already established synergy  between the Command and the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria , in the state.

Noting that the  role of the  public  in this endeavor cannot be overstated, Commandant Keshinro  appeal for vigilance and prompt reporting of illegal activities is a reminder that security is a collective responsibility. 

He said the establishment of a dedicated department within the NSCDC  is  to monitor private guard companies  to reinforce  the organization's resolve to uphold high standards within the industry.

He urged  the public  to always take necessary precaution   when hiring security guards   and   always speak up  when they notice illegal activities within  their neighborhood.



The NSCDC state commandant  disclosed that   the command has a department dedicated to the monitoring of the activities of private guard companies to check  irregularities and violations.
