AFRICAN INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED ECONOMICS (AIAE) HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING SEMINAR FOR COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY CORRESPONDENTS ASSOCIATION(CICAN)

The Communications and Relations Manager, African Institute for Applied Economics (AIAE) sola oluwadare, noted that, “The seminar, which forms part of the capacity building initiatives of AIAE, is an opportunity to create collaboration and synergistic relationship with important institutions in the nation. He is of the view that the media, as a communicator of policy reforms need to be properly carried along in the process of policy formulation of which economic research is fundamental.
He believes that self development and financial planning are germane for effective growth of human capital which is the concomitant of any meaningful economic development. Therefore the media, as a major player in achieving economic renaissance, need skill enhancement and other personal development initiatives.
Oluwadare disclosed that the Institute would use the opportunity to showcase the output of its recent research on the measurement and explanation of informal sector, a masterpiece meant to ginger government’s deliberate policies to deepen economic integration

The AIAE spokesman, Sola Oluwadare said the event billed for Lagos Airport Hotel on the 30th of April has the theme “The Role of Media in Fostering Utilization of Research in Public Policy”, with the Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), Mr. Muda Yusuf, billed to handle the topic. Oluwadare explained that men of the pen profession would also be exposed to issues on self development and financial planning to be handled by Mr. Lanre Oyetade, the personal finance coordinator of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers while the Director General of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Mr. Lawrence Adekunle will preside over the seminar.

IBA LCDA COUNCIL BOSS SAYS DEVELOPMENT OF ALABA MARKET IS PARAMOUNT

The chairman IBA local development area Hon Toyin Suarau says the council’s plan to develop Alaba- Rago market is for the general good of the populace.

The chairman who disclosed this to journalists who were on a project assessment tour of projects in his council said the market has been an eyesore, with traders residing in the market which contravens the law of the state government while all sort of immoral and criminal activities also take place there.
Coupled with this he said the traders have refused to pay tax , fighting and bringing in ethnic sentiments when asked to pay.

'I WILL CONTINUE TO ASSIST RESIDENTS OF BARUWA, IPAJA - SAYS COUNCIL BOSS

Chairman Ayobo/Ipaja local council development area, Prince Bisi Yusuff has described Baruwa in Ayobo /ipaja Lcda as a disaster not only to the state but to the nation at large.

The chairman who disclosed this while taking members of the NUJ Lagos council project assessment team on a tour of projects in his area said the effect of oil spillage in the area is so devastating that it is very difficult to dig a borehole with clean water in the area. He said this dearth of water has resulted in the spread of diseases in the area.

He said to ameliorate the sufferings of residents; the council has ensured regular supply of water to the area while creating a befitting primary health center in the area.
